| Homemade Laundry Detergent Ingredients |
1 bar of laundry soap (today I used FELS-NAPTHA but I have used other brands, including plain ole Ivory)
1 CUP of Super Washing Soda
1 CUP of Borax
The Technique:
Cut the bar of soap into 8 chunks and blend 4 chunks at a time with a tablespoon of the borax until crumbly. The borax will prevent the soap from caking. Be carfeful not too much Borax or the soap won't crumble. Then mix all ingredients together in an airtight container.
NOTE: For the previous batches, I grated the soap by hand. Today, I used the blender. I like the results much better!

Wish I could recall where I found the original recipe years ago. I've come across it (or variations) so many times that it's hard to know who posted it first. All in all it takes about 5 minutes to make a batch of Homemade Laundry Detergent. Super easy, super fast, works great! Try it yourself!

I love homemade laundry soap too. There is an older lady in town that makes old fashioned laundry bars from her grandmothers recipe, she sells them locally. I grate up the bar and mix it with the Borax and washing soda. Used it for years. It really does a fine job. Clothes don’t smell perfume like, just clean!
