Not for Sale: Modern Day Slavery in America

Do your holiday shopping at
Justice Market on  December 10th.
I am about to discuss an uncomfortable subject:  slavery in modern-day America.

If you think slavery ended in 1865, you are sadly mistaken.  Slavery exists today and no one seems to want to talk about it.  Earlier this year, 10 men were arrested in a human trafficking bust in Houston, Texas.

The Houston chapter of Not for Sale, a non-profit organization dedicated to the eradication of modern day slavery, is hosting Justice Market on December 10th from 1-6pm at Copperfield Church in Houston, Texas.

Shaka Studios will be on hand.  We will feature Shane's unique creation, Artemis Bench, as well as several of his painted raw edge slabs.  15% of sales during Justice Market will be donated to Not for Sale.  If you are in the Houston area, we urge you to come out and shop the 40 plus ethically-crafted and fair-trade vendors.  Your holiday gift purchases can also make a meaningful difference.

Additionally, Shaka Studios is pledging 15% of all Internet primitive furniture sales from December 09 through December 12 to Not for Sale.  Use this link for a 15% discount off your entire purchase and take a stand against human trafficking.
