The 80" high pencil posts are cut from a single piece of tiger maple. Believe me, it is not easy to find figured maple thick enough to accomplish this feat! The raw edge slab is 1" thick and ready to be shaped into either headboard A or B. Unfortunately, the single board is not shaped correctly for headboard C or D. If you'd like your headboard to have raw edges, we'd be happy to accommodate. We can make your bed from these posts and this slab in size full or queen. Call Kandas at 888-973-4722 to order your bed! Here is a set of tables for the Lavelle family that will soon grace our occasional table line up. Over sized pine occasional tables with Arts & Crafts legs have been a big special request of late. The coffee table shown features two drawers on each long side and measures 22H x 58W x 32D: The end table features one drawer plus a handy shelf and measures 28H x 30W x 30D:

Shane let his creative juices explode finishing this raw edge tiger maple headboard for a king sized platform bed. He started this labor of love in August. Shane has very much been enjoying finishing tiger maple. The process that makes the grain pop out of the wood is truly an art form. Miss one step, and the finish falls flat. Shane selected this raw edge slab because of two imperfections in the upper right hand corner that look like birds, thinking the "birds" would set the stage for an ocean sunset.

In the Shop...

Here are a couple of projects being worked on at the shop. The first is a tiger maple pencil post bed for the Priddy Family. This is what tiger maple looks like BEFORE the magic of finishing:

Shane made the Roll Top Desk and Linen Press when he was still a one man show in Bryan, Texas. He made the modern bed and large cupboard when our studio was located in Spring, Texas. We moved to New Waverly about 6 or 7 years ago.

We just shipped this custom bed and custom table to Simpler Tymes in Columbia, Tennessee: This adaptation of our Colonial Bed features 84" tall posts and a tester. The posts were handturned in our studio. The top on this 72"W x 33"D dining table is tiger maple. The handturned legs are cherry. Simpler Tymes is located at 1431 Oak Leaf in Columbia, Tennessee.
